One week

The first Minneapolis Climate Week starts next week. And the city has had a hard week. And hard weeks before that. And hard weeks are no doubt in our future. And hard weeks are everywhere. And the work continues.

We have fielded many questions about whether or not Minneapolis Climate Week will be happening. Some assuming “no”, some assuming “yes”, all supportive and in the best sense of community.

Minneapolis Climate Week is happening. And we hope to see you there. And we hope you are where you need to be. Check out the website for some safety considerations, and look out for each other.

Less memo, more demo

There is good work happening all over the place, but it’s not always easy to see. Minneapolis Climate Week is not a week of launches or announcements or pledges or press releases — it is a week of showing up, sharing, and being in community.

These issues are hard. They involve trade-offs, uncertainty, and disagreement. They don’t resolve themselves with good intentions, and they don’t disappear if we avoid them. If we never talk through costs, timelines, priorities, and differing perspectives, we shouldn’t be surprised when progress stalls.

The point is not that we have ideas — the point is that we have each other. Ideas can help, but start with showing up. Less memo, more demo.

Looking out for each other? Always!

Stay warm. Stay in community. See you in Minneapolis.

Sincerely,
Matt
